Lamin Suno | a glance into Bmotion 2018

VERSIONE ITALIANA A SEGUIRE

We usually look for “the expert” opinion, report or review of an event. But what do common people get from a dance festival, what is the opinion of those to whom a specific event has been addressed to? Today we have a special guest, Lamin Suno – a host of Casa a Colori – who, while waiting for papers, started to get involved in the various activities proposed by OperaEstate Dance festival. A little bit skeptical at the beginning, he soon found himself attending dance performances and classes, until one day he was the one to give a class [follow the link!], to perform, and to study for becoming a Dance Well teacher – movement research for Parkinson. Here is his quick but deep glance into #Bmotion dance festival 2018.

«Hello. I am Lamin Suno from Gambia. Today I am going to write some considerations on the Dance festival Bmotion 2018, and on the EU project Migrant Bodies – moving borders.
It’s difficult to talk about “dance”, as before coming to Italy the dance world for me was already there, existing. So I would rather write down some points about my experience during the festival, my observations, the things I’ve focused on, and those I’ve thought about the most:

1. It was a honour and a great pleasure to witness this year dance festival because I’ve learnt a lot from it. I met lots of people and new faces, and I’ve also made lots of new friends, so I am very grateful for all this too.

2. Dancing is a Wonder of the World. I had really liked the dancing steps I saw during the festival and I was very impressed by them. I also noticed that some of the dance steps of my country were similar to some of the dance steps I saw on stage, so I was very happy to be present in these occasions.

3. The performances that I watched were very impressive and also educational for me. I’ve learnt a lot about it, like the courage and determination the artists had when performing, or the effort they put to make some movements. It was all amazing for me. Other performances were sort of strange for me, but at the end I was excited about them too.

In conclusion the dance festival was not all about dancing for me. It is more than dancing. It brings friends, families, colleagues and companions together, and it also creates new relationships. Dance is something very powerful when you engage yourself to it. You cannot stop it easily because it gives us joy, health and above all it is an exercise to free your mind from all the difficulties you are going through.

I would like to give a special thanks to Roberto Casarotto, Anna Bragagnolo, Selamawit Biruk and my Association Casa a Colori for their support, assistance and collaboration».

ENGLISH VERSION ABOVE

Well – movement research for Parkinson.
